Delicious Halloumi cheese meets the all American french fry! This crispy, cheesy snack is simple and tasty. Adults and especially kids will love it!
Inspired by a menu item we saw overseas, we’re going to make Halloumi Fries at home and even better!
Serves: 4 | Difficulty: Easy
Ingredients:
Flour Coating
- ½ cup all purpose flour flour
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon dried parsley
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- pinch of salt
- pinch of black pepper
Egg Coating
- 2 large eggs
- pinch of salt
- pinch of black pepper
Panko Coating
- 1½ cup Panko breadcrumbs
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- pinch of salt
- pinch of black pepper
Steps:
-
In a small bowl, whisk together flour, paprika, dried parsley, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
-
In a second small bowl, whisk together eggs with a tiny pinch of salt and black pepper.
-
In a third small bowl, whisk together panko breadcrumbs, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
-
Place the block of Halloumi cheese on a cutting board. Slice into long thin strips to resemble the shape of a french fry.
-
Dip each piece first into the flour mixture and shake off any excess flour. Then dip into the egg mixture and let any excess drip off. Last, dip into the panko breadcrumb mixture. Repeat until all are breaded.
-
Add some vegetable oil into a frying pan and heat to 350°F.
-
Drop the Halloumi pieces in and fry until they are golden brown. It only takes 2 to 3 minutes if the oil is hot enough.
-
Take them out of the oil and transfer to a wire rack to drain any excess oil.
-
Serve with some ketchup, marinara, or your favorite dipping sauce to enjoy!
